Heavy rains left many roads inaccessible by motorists forcing boda-boda riders in large numbers to fix one major pothole in Yei urban centre on Tuesday.
Speaking to the media at deepest hole between Twins Hotel and the Bank of South Sudan along Zamiah Street, Stephen Duku said they initiate the work because movement was very difficult, Easter Radio reported.
He said they waited for the government to maintain the main roads, but it was not materializing.
The Acting Block Director Khalid Modi appreciated boda-boda riders’ initiative, disclosing plans to build permanent culverts in the town.
Roads and Bridges Deputy Director Philip Anthony confirmed that many roads in the town need immediate attention to ease transport and movement of goods.
According to the climatic weather focus of Yei, heavy rains are anticipated to pour from August and the months ahead.
