Army warns opposition forces to abide by ceasefire agreement

The Army on Wednesday warned SPLM/A in opposition to abide by the ceasefire agreement signed by both leaders under Inter-governmental Authority on Development or IGAD’s mediation in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
 
SPLA Spokesperson Colonel Philip Aguer Panyang told CRN in a telephone interview that it was meaningless that the opposition continue to attack government bases, calling on the international body to convince their opponent to respect peace.
 
He disclosed that they are expecting the opposition to attack their forces in Nassir any time, wonderin whether they would re-attack Ayod town after losing 25 soldiers including Lieutenant Colonel Manyang Malek, Major Gatkuot Dak and Captain Gatgiek Chany on Tuesday.
 
Colonel Aguer expressed government’s confidence and capability to protect the people and the territory of South Sudan.
 
The spokesperson re-echoed army’s commitment to respect the ceasefire agreement despite opposition forces’ continuous attacks on their bases.
