Turkana Region Governor in Kenya who led a delegation to Torit, Eastern Equatoria to celebrate the third independence anniversary urged South Sudan leadership to protect independence at all cost.
Josephat Nanok expressed Kenya’s continuous support to South Sudan as their government started during the liberation struggle through the referendum processes and up to now, Emmanuel Radio reported.
Governor Nanok stressed the need for South Sudan political leaders to resolve the current conflict amicably to allow citizens concentrate on development.
He pledged Kenyan government’s commitment to continue supporting South Sudan to find a peaceful resolution to the ongoing conflict.
The Governor said Kenya host the largest South Sudan refugees’ camp at Kakuma, wishing them to return home to build the nation.
Mr Nanok committed to work closely with Governor Louis Lobong to create a conducive environment for communities in Turkana and Eastern Equatoria to stabilize problems brought by cattle rustling at the borders to boost trade between the two countries.
