The Auxiliary Bishop of the Catholic Archdiocese of Juba on Tuesday congratulated citizens for the third independence anniversary under the theme: ‘South Sudan: One nation, one people’.

Bishop Santo Loku Pio told Bakhita Radio that though the country is in crisis, yet it is a blessing that God loves South Sudan by keeping the country and its people alive.

He said citizens were expecting peace to flourish in the country after three years of that independence.

The Bishop said the third independence celebration came when people in the country are torn apart, citing divisions among political elites.

He urged political leaders to return to the negotiating table and tackle the crisis causing confusion in the country.

The Catholic prelate called on the leadership to forget the past and look at positive change of South Sudan.

The Auxiliary Bishop passed condolence messages to those who lost their dear ones during the mid December crisis, acknowledging the suffering of citizens at different UN bases.
