Tonj South Mayor in Warrap State on Tuesday urged the entire community and business people to keep the town clean ahead of the Independence Day.
Machar Ater urged Tonj community, traders, restaurants owners, tea sellers and other businesses to clean the town for the celebration, Don Bosco Radio reported.
He said 20 main roads in the county need cleaning.
Mr Ater said the people who would maintain cleanness around their homes and roads would be rewarded during the Independence Day and that the prize would be given to people who clean their roads starting from road number one.
He added that the aim of maintaining cleanness in the town was to prevent cholera and other diseases.
The Mayor advised traders not to keep empty bottles, cartons, plastic bags and other rubbish in front of their shops.
He called on restaurants owners, tea sellers, and other feeding business to cover their hair with pieces of cloth to keep food safe.
Mr Ater advised citizens to use clean water to prevent waterborne diseases.
He advised cattle keepers to control their animals from damaging crops in residential areas.
