South Sudan Tourism and Hospitality Chamber chairperson on Tuesday called on the government to partner with the private sector to reform the country’s economic system.

Amer Manyok Dengyak told CRN that people’s incomes are very low in the country due to lack of sound economic policies in place.

She argued that government officials would end up in the private sector after retirement so they should consider partnership and reforms for their own benefits.

Ms Manyok said 80 percent of South Sudanese suffer economic problems especially girls without access to education resorting to survival opportunities.

She said they need to develop South Sudanese culture.

Ms Manyok said there is need to have law to protect cultural heritage in the country.

She argued that the private sector needs cultural rehabilitation from erosion by infiltrating foreign cultures.

Ms Manyok blamed porous borders for allowing poisonous cultures to destroy 64 tribes who used to promote dignity and pride.

The chairperson called for teamwork, cooperation and unity to address several problems facing the country.
