Faith-based organizations including South Sudan Council of Churches, South Sudan Islamic Council, delegation to peace talks in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia called on the conflicting parties to end war and start talking.
The organizations on Wednesday issued a statement titled ‘End war and start talking’ after they noted persistence non-compliance with the signed agreements, little implementation and long delays of the talks.
They called on the warring parties to show good will, stop the senseless conflict and pursue political dialogue for peaceful settlement of the crisis in the country.
The organizations expressed concerns to the government and SPLM/A in opposition boycott of the multi-stakeholders roundtable negotiations.
They called on the leaders to allow inclusive participation of the former detainees, political parties, civil society organizations and faith-based groups.
They called on IGAD head of states and Envoys, Troika, international community and people of good will to pressurise the parties to resume negotiations, implement the signed agreements and stop war.
