WES celebrates African Child Day

Western Equatoria celebrated African Child Day on Monday in Yambio under the theme: ‘A child friendly, quality, free and compulsory education for all children in Africa’.
 
State Education Minister Pia Phillip Michael said the government focuses on keeping a child in the right place, calling on parents and partners to fulfil their responsibilities, Anisa Radio reported.
 
Catholic Medical Mission Board and Child Protection Manager Catherine Onkware said they support the government to provide quality education.
 
She cited early childhood education negligence as one of the major challenges facing education in Africa.
 
Bangasi Academic Science and Technology students’ representative Stephen Mborifue Aziz said the Day was adding value to education for holistic development.
 
Yabongo Girls Boarding Secondary School representative Veronica Nardino urged the government to establish perfect education in South Sudan particularly and Africa generally.
 
Ms Nardino urged all learners to embrace education because it would enable them to develop their potentials to reshape the nation at large.
