Bright Future Primary School student’s representative called for children’s education to fight illiteracy and poverty and achieve develop in the nation.
Velesita Paul Luweja made the call on Monday when Western Bahr Sl Ghazal children joint South Sudan in commemorating African Child Day under the ‘A child friendly, quality, free and compulsory education for all children in Africa’, Voice of Hope reported.
the pupil said some parents cannot afford to pay school fees and inadequate qualified teachers were challenges facing children.
She lamented that children face severe punishment in schools forcing them out from completing their education.
Ms Velesita called on the state government to provide more schools and qualified teachers for children.
She also demanded compulsory and free education for all children including those on streets and in prison.
State Education minister Michael Madut Chan assured that South Sudan Higher Education policy is ‘free education for every child’.
