Abyei Community Chairperson in Juba said suspected Arab Militia group supported by Sudan Armed Forces or SAF attacked Abyei town on Friday, killing four people and looting more than 70 heads of cattle.

Deng Mading told the press that the victims include Akuei Kiir Akuei 15 years old, Chol Aguek Minyiel 17, Manut 14, and Maguith 20 years old.

He condemned the act in the strongest terms possible, accusing Sudanese government in Khartoum of the civilians killing in the area and looting of property.

Mr Mading added that it was a series of repeated killings occurring after United Nations Security Council ordered for the withdrawal of South Sudan polices force from Abyei.

He said it was surprising that UNISFA; the Ethiopian Protection Force composed of four thousand forty two soldiers could not intercept the movement of Misseriya Arab Militias.

The Chairperson held UNISFA responsible for what happened in Abyei, blaming it for not taking reasonable action against the attacks.

Mr Mading appealed to the international community to provide adequate protection to Abyei people and their property.
