Attitude challenges cholera prevention in Juba

Health Ministry’s Coordination Director General said people’s attitude poses challenge to their work, citing negative attitude of people who do not want to change poor hygiene situation to prevent cholera infection.
 
Dr Lul Riek said some people do not use chlorine for treating water if even availed to them freely.
 
He added that people continue to forget maintaining good sanitation, only hurrying to eat food without washing hands with soap and clean water.
 
Dr Riek said it is a personal responsibility to take cleanness seriously to end cholera.
 
Water Resources Director General Peter Mahal Dhieu Akat said cholera is preventable if people adopt good hygienic practices including boiling water before drinking and disposing waste products carefully.
 
He expressed commitment to provide clean water for the population.
 
Mr Mahal urged citizens to ask water suppliers first to avoid supply of dirty water.
