Heavy lightning on Monday struck houses burning them to ashes in Amdraffi and Sarbule in Amdurdu Administrative Unit of Hieban County in the Nuba Mountains.
Kochigo Ismail said she heard a loud strange sound, her children in the sitting room told her that a barn caught fire, Voice of Peace reported.
Issa Abdallah in Amdraffi said everything including sorghum were reduced to ashes.
Naida Asoal whose son Ajiger Idriss Ismail lost everything in the lightening strike said they were prevented from going near the burning houses.
The remote Nuba Mountains region has no lightening arresters.
The rain has not fallen in Heiban County for a number of weeks, worrying citizens who highly depend on it for their livelihood.
