Twenty youths from Morobo United Youth’s Association or MCUYA on Wednesday started three-day training on human rights, good governance and democracy.

Community Empowerment for Rehabilitation and Development Program Officer Mawa George Lazarus told Easter Radio in a telephone interview that the training would instill advocacy knowledge to youths.

He said there is need to involve youths in the national reconstruction because they constitute the greater percentage in the country with an estimated 30 percent under 15 years and 70 percent under 30 years old.

Mr Mawa lamented that the youths are seen as under privileged people unable to participate in good governance and decision making on national development issues.

He decried that top officials describe the youths including those in higher offices as ‘red army’ in holding positions for service delivery to citizens.

The Officer said the training would strengthen the youths to follow issues affecting them in the country to enable them to participate in the ongoing peace talks in Addis Ababa Ethiopia.

Mr Mawa added that CEFORD would also train other youths in Yei and Lainya Counties.
