South Sudan Women Coalition, comprising of 34 groups is organizing a national prayer for peace on Saturday as a weapon that can change conflict into peace.
EVE Women Organization Director Rita Martin told CRN on Monday that it was crucial to supplement political dialogue with peace prayers.
She said women would gather at Dr John Garang’s Mausoleum and march to Ny√∂kur√∂n Cultural Centre to kneel before God asking for peace.
Ms Martin said the national prayer would call for humility, prayerfulness, repentance, forgiveness and healing in the country.
She explained that women message to the government and armed opposition would be a call for full stop to killing.
Ms Martin observed that when men fail, people turn to God the supreme overall who never fails to grant peace and grace to nations.
She said women believe God the most high would grant peace to South Sudan.
The Director revealed that different women groups met President Salva Kiir and SPLM/A in opposition delegates in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia calling for peace and that the message was well received though fighting continues.
