Western Bahr El Ghazal State Health Minister told state parliament that there is need for public awareness on preventive measures against cholera.
Dr Isaac Cleto said though the state never registered any case of cholera it would be wise to prevent since the epidemic spreads very fast in the shortest possible time, Voice of Hope reported.
He said the ministry was stepping up efforts to prevent cholera following confirmed outbreak in Juba which claimed 13 lives.
Dr Cleto stressed the importance of keeping the environment clean, personal hygiene as the best ways of preventing cholera spread.
The minister reminded citizens that awareness and early reporting of cases would help save lives.
The minister said the ministry was equipping health facilities in Western Bahr El Ghazal with necessary drugs for cholera treatment.
