United Nations Children agency or UNICEF warned that cholera outbreak in Juba would spread to other parts of the country as people travel from one place to another.
UNICEF Senior Advisor Kent Page appealed to the public to visit Juba Teaching Hospital when they experience symptoms of cholera including vomiting and diarrhea.
He expressed UNICEF’s commitment to support the national Health ministry by training teachers, health workers, community leaders and volunteers on symptoms and ways of preventing the disease.
Mr Page said it was very important to know symptoms of cholera because it would help people respond for quick treatment to save lives of people.
The Advisor said UNICEF and partners trained hundreds of teachers to recognize cholera symptoms and know ways of preventing it.
Mr Page noted that teachers have a great role to disseminate information to learners to help them transfer the same information to their families to prevent rapid spread of cholera in the country.
He appealed to teachers and citizens to spread cholera information as quickly as possible.
