Our Lady of Fatima Maridi Catholic Parish commemorated the feast of its patron for the first time on Sunday.
Tombura-Yambio Catholic Bishop Barani Eduardo Hiiboro Kussala in his homily urged the faithful to put God in their midst and pray for peace in the diocese and South Sudan at large, Anisa Radio reported.
He urged the faithful to send their children to school and work hard to produce enough food for consumption and surplus for the market for them to earn money.
The Bishop during the Eucharistic celebration, confirmed 35 people, blessed heads of choirs in Maridi Parish and two couples received the Sacrament of Matrimony.
Our Lady of Fatima Parish Priest Stephen Kumuyangi thanked Bishop Hiiboro for regular visits, citing challenges of having only two Chapels and two Prayer Centres.
Maridi Parish Council chairperson Daniel Alfonse appreciated the Bishop for sending a priest to run pastoral activities.
He commended the new parish priest for working hard and dedicating himself to the holistic development of the parish.
