Central Equatoria Education Minister advised school administrations, teachers, workforce and students to improve their sanitation to avoid the spread of cholera in Juba.
Hastin Yokwe Anisio called on schools to take the matter seriously and provide enough and clean water to learners for use in toilets.
He advised pupils to wash their hands using soap and clean water before touching and eating anything.
The Minister added that fruits must be well washed with safe water before they are eaten because they are main carriers of cholera bacteria.
Minister Yokwe said they were not well informed about the impact to warrant the ministry to close schools.
The Minister urged State Health Ministry to collaborate with UNICEF to give them relevant advice and information, saying it is important to close down crowded places.
