Oxfam operating in South Sudan vowed to work together with other aid agencies to prevent the spread of cholera in Juba.
In a statement Oxfam said it would build latrines, provide buckets, treat water, mobilize communities to collect garbage and communicate hygiene messages to communities to reduce the spread of the disease.
It added that a cargo of supplies including oral rehydration salts, chlorine, water treatment, disinfectant and soap would arrive from Oxford to Juba on Sunday.
The organization said it would begin responding on Monday as it determines with other actors’ priority areas of operation.
Oxfam observed that with a quick response, the outbreak could be contained.
The statement added that cholera outbreak highlights the scale of public health risks posed by dirty living conditions of many South Sudanese in urban areas.
