Former Yei Province comprising among others the present Yei River, Lainya and Morobo counties in Central Equatoria State are celebrating SPLA Day on May 16 without a public rally due to financial constraints.
Lainya County Commissioner Huda Michael Laila appealed to masses to unite as they celebrate the day with difficulties, Easter Radio reported.
She congratulated the SPLA for fighting tirelessly to bring independence to the land.
Morobo County Commissioner Moses Simon Soro reminded citizens to remember those who sacrificed lives to liberate the country.
He appealed to all South Sudanese within and abroad to unite and work for peace.
The commissioners passed the messages through Easter Radio telephone conversations on Friday morning.
