Tonj South County women in Warrap State on Tuesday said that they were ready to fight hunger in the country through cultivation to produce more food.
Mama Madeline Victor Mayen said God blessed Tonj residents with rain in April for the first time in South Sudan, Don Bosco Radio reported.
She called on local farmers to exert more efforts in cultivation to replace the 2013 food production spoiled by floods.
Ms Madeline urged Tonj community to put God first in life to bring peace and unity among the people and avoid discrimination.
Mary Pasquale appreciated God for giving rain early, expressing hope for compensation of 2013 flood losses.
She added that the first hunger crops to be planted are Pumpkins, Maize, groundnuts, Okras and other cereals.
Ms Pasquale urged the government to protect citizens from falling victims of conflict everywhere in the country to allow them to cultivate more food.
She advised people to love one another and work for peace and unity in their areas and avoid separating people.
