Sacked Army General Chief of Staff said 99 or 95 percent of SPLA soldiers are illiterate, ignorant and tribal in loyalty to former commanders or war lords who recruited them.
James Hoth Mai told Bakhita Radio the illiterate tribal SPLA do not understand the mandate of the national army, causing huge uncontrollable defections to former commanders.
General Hoth appealed to the SPLA to refrain from involving in politics, urging them to be neutral and welcoming to whichever party assuming powers by democratic means as a symbol of unity to the people.
He pointed out that the constitution prescribes SPLA to be non partisan, but a neutral body that protects the country from any foreign aggression.
General Hoth said the split in the SPLA is because majority still pays allegiance in to former commanders.
He said that war cannot bring peace but reconciliation is the only way forward to end the violence in South Sudan.
General Hoth added that once peace is attained all sort of transformation would take place.
The former Army General Chief of Staff said he had no bad feeling about his removal from the position, but instead feels happy since pressure mounting on him all days was extinguished.
General Hoth said the Dinka and Nuer consider him as a traitor because the Dinka think he supports the Nuer and the Nuer think he is fighting them.
