Tonj South County Payam Administrator in Warrap State warned on Wednesday that police would arrest idlers playing cards, dominos under trees during the rainy season to encourage cultivation.
Joseph Madut Deng urged masses to go farming and leave the attitude of lazing under trees which disrupts agricultural production in the country, Don Bosco Radio reported.
The administrator called on locals to cultivate more food to replace the 2013 production spoiled by floods.
Mr Madut also advised media to play a critical role in mobilizing the population to cultivate.
The administrator urged communities to take care of livestock in times of cultivation because thieves take advantage at night.
