Cabinet Minister urges opposition to allow vaccination in areas of control

Cabinet Affairs Minister on Wednesday urged SPLM/A in opposition leadership to allow vaccination of children staying in areas they control.
 
Dr Martin Elia Lomurö said government offers access to immunization of children in areas of full control, urging the opposition to do the same especially in Jonglei, Unity and Upper Nile States.
 
National Health Minister Dr Riek Gai Kok said the country did not record polio cases since 2009, calling on parents to immunize children to maintain polio free South Sudan.
 
He added that 4000 vaccination teams would reach nearly 2.4 million children in Equatoria and Bahr El Ghazal regions.
 
Dr Gai said low rate of routine immunization campaign, infrastructure and ongoing conflict remain challenges in provision of health services to communities.
 
Central Equatoria State Health Minister Dr Emmanuel Ija Baya said the state has no cases of measles, but imports the killer disease from neighboring states.
 
The officials made the statements during the launch of the nationwide integrated immunization campaign for measles, polio and Vitamin A supplementation in Juba.
