A six year boy identified as Emilio Martine died after inhaling a teargas cast by police at a funeral ceremony in Bazia Jedid are of Western Bahr El Ghazal State.
The tragedy happened on Easter Sunday at 5:00pm when police on mission surrounded the area and released four teargas bombs among two hundred people, Voice of Hope reported.
Mother of the deceased boy Maria Marko explained the impact of the teargas as making the child unconscious and eventually dead.
Local sources said the police were believed to be tracking down a group of young stars for illegal party at Hai Kosti, but mistakenly toasted teargas bomb out of target.
Outpatient Department Director at Wau Teaching Hospital Dr Ajongo Uber confirmed that they received the child already dead.
He disclosed that medical investigation proved the boy died of insufficient oxygen.
Eye witnesses said many people were affected by the chemical but were able to access water for first aid.
