The African Union Commission and the World Health Organisation or WHO are organizing the first African Health Ministers’ conference in Luanda, Angola between April 14 and 17.
In a statement issued on Monday, the conference would provide important forum for member states, UN agencies, development partners and other stakeholders to discuss universal health coverage in Africa, from concept to action.
It is expected to discuss African Medicines Agency, setting milestones to establish a centralized regulatory system for medical products, non-communicable diseases in Africa: policies and strategies to address risk factors.
The conference would discuss maternal and child mortality prevention, formation of African disease control and prevention centres and accountability mechanisms to assess the implementation of declarations and Health ministers commitments.
The AU and the WHO throughout many years continuously explored ways to reinforce collaboration to obtain better growth and development across Africa.
