Eastern Equatoria Local Government Minister decried inadequate number of judges in the state to handle capital criminal cases.

Ambrose Lokonoi during the rule of law forum on Friday in Torit stressed the need to involve chiefs in the rule of law discussions to help them implement their duties, Emmanuel Radio reported.

He emphasized the importance of enlightening citizens on rule of law and human rights to prevent violation and be aware of legal procedures.

One of the chiefs called on the state government to protect them while carrying out their duties because some citizens frequently threaten them while following criminal cases or suspects.

The chiefs suggested provision of body guards to lower threats.

The forum aimed at creating awareness on the rule of law and access to justice to all citizens in Eastern Equatoria State.
