United Nations Mission in South Sudan or UNMISS on Wednesday conducted a one-day political forum for all parties and civil society organizations in Rumbek, Lakes State.

African National Congress or ANC State Chairperson Gabriel Kuch Abyei said the forum was essential because it discussed political parties’ roles in improving lives of citizens in the state, Good News Radio reported.

He proposed that political parties meet regularly to discuss useful issues to the community rather than dwelling on power struggle differences.

Lakes Governor’s Peace Advisor Ezekiel Thiong Mangar told political parties and intellectuals to work for harmony among communities in order to end the suffering of women, children and the elderly.

He stressed the need to have peace in villages so that citizens feel safe and protected.

The forum brought together eight political parties.
