Government and opposition forces’ continuous violation of the Cessation of Hostilities agreement and failure to enter into an inclusive and political dialogue deeply disturbed the United States.
In a statement on Thursday, US Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Samantha Power said the warring parties continue to jeopardize the security and economic stability of South Sudanese.
The statement strongly condemned repeated attacks and harassment of UNMISS personnel.
It added that the attacks against UN personnel involved in humanitarian assistance or peacekeeping are unacceptable and that perpetrators must be held accountable.
The statement called on all parties to respect, support and protect UNMISS personnel while protecting civilians and facilitating humanitarian assistance delivery to the needy.
The diplomat also called on all parties to immediately stop violence and meet their obligations under the Cessation of Hostilities agreement to engage in inclusive, political dialogue.
