The ongoing insecurity in Unity State forced thousands of people to flee into the bush including 240 South Sudanese Medicines Sans Frontiers or MSF staff in Leer.

MSF Head of Mission Raphael Gorgeu in a statement on Friday said 30 local staff took some severely ill patients from Leer Hospital with them into the bush.

He added that other patients strong enough to leave of their own also fled and that there were no longer any patient or staff left at Leer Hospital.

Mr Gorgeu said in the past three days, the situation became too unstable and the only way to provide medical care was to take patients out of the hospital into the bush.
