South Sudan Democratic Movement/Defence Army or SSDA, Cobra faction of David Yau Yau and the government on Thursday signed Cessation of Hostilities Agreement in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
The parties agreed to immediate Cessation of Hostilities, commit to non-aggression and refrain from any action that may hinder the ongoing talks in Addis Ababa.
The government agreed to release SSDA Cobra Faction soldiers still in custody while the Cobra Faction agreed to remain neutral in the ongoing conflict.
The agreement requires that SPLA movement into SSDA controlled areas to notify the Cobra Faction in advance.
Church Leaders Mediation Initiative Chairperson Torit Emeritus Bishop Paride Taban urged South Sudan leaders to be transparent, accountable and must not embrace ethnicity and nepotism.
He called on the parties to concentrate on massive energies to eradicate poverty and give peace a chance and pray for one another.
Bishop Taban called on the parties to stop the culture of war and militarism and begin to work for sustainable peace in the country and concentrate on helping suffering people.
