Norwegian Foreign Affairs Minister said his country was doubling funds for humanitarian assistance from 50 to 100 NOK million.
In a statement Borge Brende said the additional money would be allocated to Norwegian aid organisations, the Red Cross and UN humanitarian organisations that have the networks and capacity needed to reach the hard-hit civilian population.
Norway also provided an additional 8 million NOK in assistance through the UN Central Emergency Response Fund.
The statement added that Norway was following developments closely and would consider making further humanitarian contributions.
Mr Brende met President Salva Kiir and UN Secretary General Special Representative Hilde Johnson and discussed the political and humanitarian situation in the country.
