US recommits to support South Sudan

The United States remains deeply committed to fully support the people of South Sudan’s aspirations for a more peaceful and prosperous future.
 
President Barrack Obama during a meeting with his Ambassador to South Sudan Susan Page and Special Envoy Donald Booth over the weekend said they strongly supports full implementation of the Cessation of Hostilities Agreement signed in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
 
He stressed strong support to the United Nations Mission in South Sudan or UNMISS to protect civilians and ensure accountability for atrocities and safe delivery of humanitarian assistance throughout South Sudan.
 
President Obama said US supports immediate release of the eleven detainees and the establishment of a political process that leads to a durable solution.
 
The President thanked his Special Envoy Booth for his energetic support to the mediation and appreciated Ambassador Page leadership and the invaluable work of US Embassy in Juba.
