SPLA vows to respect ceasefire

Government army promised to respect Cessation of Hostilities Agreement, calling for maximum vigilance and discipline during the ceasefire period.
 
SPLA Spokesperson Colonel Philip Aguer Panyang told CRN in a telephone interview that the army would respect ceasefire agreement signed between Government and SPLM/A in opposition.
 
He pointed out that it was their duty to implement government defence and security policies.
 
Colonel Aguer alerted colleagues everywhere in the country to maintain close watch and discipline in compliance with government leadership.
 
The spokesperson revealed that the Chief of Staff James Hoth Mai established a court martial on January 23 for investigating and trying human rights violators.
 
Colonel Aguer said crimes under investigation and trial include killing innocent civilians, robbery, theft and intimidation of civilians.
 
The spokesperson said the army was very happy with the signing of Cessation of Hostilities agreement to give politicians a chance to resolve their problems peacefully.
