Government agreed to release the political detainees after inking Cessation of Hostilities and Status of Detainees Agreements.
Chief Negotiator Nhial Deng Nhial on Saturday told journalists that the agreement recognized the efforts of special envoys to release the detainees.
He added that the efforts needed to be put in the contest of a communiqué.
Mr Nhial clarified that the release of the detainees was subject to legal procedures.
Government spokesperson Michael Makuei said the two delegations are expected to return to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia on February 7 to discuss the root causes of the conflict.
The officials made the statements at Juba International Airport shortly after their arrival from Addis Ababa.
