Upper Nile State Information Minister said the internally displaced persons or IDPs were in desperate conditions and need humanitarian assistance.

Philip Jiben Ogal said many people moved to Shilluk Kingdom, Akoka and northern Upper Nile Counties, Saut Al Mahaba reported.

The Minister added that some people took refuge in Catholic Church in Meduria area.

Jiben lamented that ‘people are suffering they are in places where they cannot access food, clean drinking water and shelter in deep remote villages. Many more are in UNMISS compound where most of them are taking refuge,’

The Minister said the town was seriously destroyed and looted by forces loyal to Riek Machar.

He complained that dead bodies were still lying everywhere in the town.
