Salesian sisters in Tonj South County of Warrap State celebrated the feast of Blessed Laura Vicuna on Wednesday.
Sister Elizabeth Cyril said the celebration included singing, games and traditional dances for young girls, Don Bosco reported.
She explained that the sisters during the celebration gave children food and a movie on the life of Blessed Laura was shown followed by mass.
Sister Cyril said Blessed Laura lived a saintly life that gives young people especially girls a good example to follow.
She called on girls to go to school and study hard so that they become like Laura Vicuna and make their parents proud.
Sr Cyril urged parents and guardians to allow their girls to study to become leaders in the future rather than sending them for marriage.
Parish Priest John Peter advised girls to follow the model of Blessed Laura by standing firm in faith and against all who try to mislead them into sin.
