Australia Defence Force to support UNMISS

The Australian Defense Force committed two of its aircrafts for supporting the United Nations Mission in South Sudan or UNMISS’ operations.
 
In a statement, the Mission said the Royal Australian Air Force delivered more than 100 tons of supplies essential for UNMISS including generators, fencing, water purification systems and body armor.
 
The Mission said Japan announced that it would implement an immediate assistance of approximately 25 million US Dollars to respond to the deteriorating situation in South Sudan.
 
It said 20 million US Dollars would be utilized in response to the urgent appeal made by the UN on December 31.
 
The assistance is expected to cover most pressing needs such as nutrition, health, water and sanitation, protection, logistics and refugees.
