Residents of Nimule in Eastern Equatoria rejected to offer a piece of land to the state government for settling internally displaced persons or IDPs.

State Governor Louis Lobong told the State Crisis Management Committee on Wednesday that the community refused to give land because of the previous records in Nimule where IPDs turned to own the land given as a camp by force, Emmanuel Radio Reported.

Governor Lobong said the government would find an alternative location to settle the IDPs if the community in Nimule insists not to offer their land.

He appealed to humanitarian agencies to transport the IDPs from Nimule.

Governor Lobong described the condition of the IDPs in Nimule as ‘bad’, without food, water and toilets.

He said the people settled at school.

The Governor said the IDPs need food and ready shelters before relocating them from Nimule.

He said other IDPs in Narus and Nadapal also face horrible living conditions.

The Governor said Kapoeta East Commissioner reported that the IDPs there have no food.
