The first South Sudan Primary Leaving Exams started on Tuesday in Yei, Lainya and Morobo Counties.
Yei River County Commissioner Juma David Augustine who rang the first bell at Kinji Primary school said government authorities were determined to put education as a priority and a key pillar of building the nation, Easter Radio reported.
He advised the candidates to avoid malpractices during the exams.
Mr Juma told the candidates that security was good and that suspending the exams would cause inconveniences to both candidates and the people.
The County Education Director Philip Taban said two thousand candidates are sitting the exams in 22 centres in Yei River County.
