Yei River County SPLM Youth League chairman urged people of South Sudan to avoid spreading wrong and threatening information that would cause panic and instability.
Salah Joseph Jeremiah said some people were conveying wrong information that could threaten communities in towns and villages to flee for refuge, Easter Radio reported.
He appealed to citizens to verify information before uttering out to other people to avoid misunderstanding.
Mr Salah added that some people were too vulnerable to listen to shocking information.
He assured foreigners that the situation in Yei River County was calm, calling on people to report any inconveniences to his office.
Mr Salah urged the public to continue running their activities normally.
The chairman made the statement while briefing the press on Tuesday in Yei Municipality.
