A Fisheries Consultant from Zambia urged fish farmers in Yei River and Lainya Counties to embark and value fish farming in order to generate more income.

Adrian Piers expressed pleasure to see many people in Lainya and Yei River active in fish farming, Easter Radio reported.

He called on farmers to take fish farming as a business to generate income to enable them buy farming inputs and earn their living.

Mr Piers discouraged fish farmers who look at fish farming as a feeding source that could provide them with fish to eat.

He appealed to farmers to regularly visit group fish ponds in order to learn from one another.

The consultant made the statements after a three-day workshop for local fish farmers and Assistant Commissioners of Forestry, Fisheries and Animal Resources in Yei and Morobo County.
