Western Equatoria State Legislative Assembly Speaker on Friday said MPs did not deliberate for the past one month due to no Parliamentary minister.
Bage James Elisa quoted the Business Code of Conduct as saying the Parliamentary Minister shall present the governor’s policy document to the August house for deliberation, Anisa Radio reported.
The Speaker said Governor’s removal of the Parliamentary Minister comply with the national policy of reshuffling the cabinet and relieving the Chief Whip in accordance to the last speakers’ forum resolutions.
He explained that the forum resolved that a governor who is not SPLM chairperson at the state shall not appoint a Chief Whip in the assembly.
Speaker Bage said the Assembly waits for the Governor to appoint one member to carry out parliamentary issues and SPLM members would recommend another MP to become a new Chief Whip.
He said the assembly would deliberate on the governor’s policy document first followed by the annual budget.
Speaker Bage urged citizens to love their government, be patriotic and abide by law.
He warned against discrimination, ethnicity, hatred and blackmail.
State Governor Bangasi Joseph Bakosoro on Thursday relieved the State Assembly Chief Whip Bukulu Edward without replacement.
