The International Committee of the Red Cross or ICRC plans to spend 64.08 million Suisse Francs, some 183 million USD dollars, in its operations in South Sudan during 2014.
ICRC published in its website that 65 percent of the money will be used in assistance. The rest will cover expenses with protection, prevention and cooperation.
In South Sudan, the ICRC works to prevent violations of international humanitarian law and supports hospital and physical-rehabilitation services.
The organization also helps conflict-affected communities to survive and become self-sufficient through livelihood support and by improving access to clean water.
Since January 2013, the ICRC provided emergency surgical care to those wounded during armed violence in Jonglei deploying a rapid-response surgical team to treat the seriously wounded.
In March, the ICRC distributed 2,000 fishing kits for around 12,000 people affected by the violence in Pibor and Gumuruk, Jonglei State, and it repaired seven hand pumps contributing to increased access to water.
