An Abyei leader and senior SPLM member called on the National Legislative Assembly on Friday to recognize the unilateral referendum results.
Deng Alor said the African Union did not condemn the outcome of the referendum.
He pointed out that the rest of world was waiting for Juba to react to the referendum results that showed 99 percent voted for joining South Sudan.
Mr Alor said he met Salva Kiir Mayardit after the Abyei results were disclosed and the president was very happy with the outcome of the vote.
He added that some politicians in Juba were scared that accepting the results would displease Khartoum and added that they were not here to please Khartoum.
Mr Alor lamented that the SPLM crisis was influenced by Sudan’s National Congress Party.
The leader added that it was too soon for the SPLM to breed differences that now term others bad boys, reiterating that its founding members were ready to die for the party without defecting.
Mr Alor dismissed that he was sacked from the Ministry of Cabinet Affairs for fraud.
He added that the case was politically motivated to damage the reputation of committed SPLM founding cadres.
