Wau Teaching Hospital authorities announced that a baby born of infected mother tested negative after 18 months follow up.
The baby girl was among 50 babies born of mothers living with HIV in Wau Teaching Hospital, Voice of Hope reported.
Wau Teaching Hospital HIV Aids Director Natalina Waderif said the Hospital has efficient system with qualified birth attendance caring for all pregnant mothers living with HIV to deliver save babies.
She advised pregnant mothers living with HIV especially those who do not attend to antenatal care to tell their HIV status before delivery.
Ms Waderif said breastfeeding remains important for six months for both HIV positive and negative mothers.
She said there would be high chance to have HIV negative babies as long as mothers follow proper medication.
Ms Waderif advised husbands to give moral support to their wives during pregnancy.
