ECS, the Episcopal Church of Sudan, is making plans to split into the provinces of South Sudan and Sudan to strengthen its administration.

The new ecclesial organization is an answer to South Sudan’s independence and strengthens church administration on both sides of the border.

ECS Bishop Peter Amidi of Lianya said that the split is not separation but an arrangement within the Anglican Communion to devolve power from the mother provincial authority to the area of clusters, Gurtong website reported.

ECS retired Bishop Nathaniel Garang Anyieth of Bor diocese told reporters that the setup of two administrations showed that the ECS grew.

He added that the ECS are not separating but developing its leadership and management.
