The Human Resource Training Centre at the foot of Körök Hill on Juba-Yei road will soon be transformed into the South Sudan Management Development Institute.

This was one of the recommendations of a five-day workshop strategic plan the national Ministry of Labour and Public Service convened at the centre.

Speaking at closing session of the workshop, Deng Chuol Malang, an adviser to the Labour and Public Service Minister, said the plan would transform the institution into a centre of excellence for training public servants in South Sudan.

He said the Ministry would prepare appropriate legislation to accompany the draft when it is presented to the Council of Ministers for approval.

Mr Chuol said the centre was not fully operational due to lack of human, financial and material resources.

Participants representative Ephraim Wani Peter said a fully functional national Management Development Institute would save the government millions of dollars spent in training civil servants abroad.

The workshop which drew participants from government ministries, commissions and the University of Juba was organized by the Pretoria-based Public Administration, Leadership and Management Academy with funding from the Canadian International Development Agency.
