The Council of Ministers approved the establishment of a performance secretariat to evaluate ministries and government institutions.
Government spokesperson Michael Makuei Lueth told the press at the end of Friday’s ordinary cabinet meeting that the Minister of Cabinet Affairs Martin Elia Lumur√∂ presented the project to establish a Government Performance Secretariat.
The new body aims to evaluate the work done by ministries and government institutions through reports to be presented to the Office of the President.
Mr Makuei said mechanisms will be set to put the new institution at work.
The spokesperson added that the council of ministers called for the training of civil servants to strengthen and empower workers to implement government projects.
Foreign Minister Barnaba Marial Benjamin briefed the Cabinet on six trips he made abroad.
President Salva Kiir Mayardit, who chaired the sitting, told ministers to reduce official trips outside the country.
He added that ministers have to report on their official missions upon arrival to the President and Vice President.
