Central Equatoria Governor’s Advisor on Health encouraged intermarriage among tribes in South Sudan to combat tribalism.
Felix Lodu said intermarriage reduces tribalism mentality and booms unity, Easter Radio reported.
He said it was due to intermarriage that some tribes became hospitable and value equality, spirit of togetherness.
Mr Lodu attributed Yei promotion to municipality to the love of the native citizens who welcomed other tribes.
He urged the Mayor to collaborate with the other government levels for better service delivery.
The Advisor disclosed that Yei civil hospital would be upgraded to national facility.
He clarified that the state government discouraged growing of tobacco, calling on tobacco growers to shift to food crops farming.
Mr Lodu advised farmers to group themselves into cooperative societies to rid the county, state and country of hunger.
The Advisor made the statements on Wednesday during the welcoming ceremony of the Yei Municipality Mayor Oba Cecilia.
